Respiración 19 Oct - 13 Nov 2020 Cecilia Brunson Projects is delighted to present a solo exhibition of work by the Argentinian artist Alejandro Corujeira. Hailing from Madrid, Corujeira is a pivotal player in the Geometría Sensible movement, which marks a revival in the Latin American tradition of geometric abstraction, the roots of which can be traced to the School of the South and the Uruguayan artist Joaquin Torres-Garcia. Combining coloured pencil, graphite, acrylic, and watercolour paints, Corujeira’s subtle colours and lines create silhouettes that capture a sense of rhythmic movement. His geometric forms are grounded in his interest in pre-Columbian geometry and music.
In an interview for the Sao Paulo Bienal in 2018, Corujeira’s explained 'There are times when I find it difficult to talk about my work. Preceding the initial encounter, I do not want to burden the viewer with any assumptions. The first time you see my work should be in silence, as out of silence unprecedented experience can arise.'
In due course we will create a dedicated exhibition webpage to help share as much meaningful information on this exhibition as possible. Read more -
