Sheroanawe Hakihiiwe: Ahete ha yamaki rariprou

6 October - 18 November 2022
CBP and ABRA are excited to present the work of Venezuelan Yanomami artist Sheroanawe Hakihiiwe in the forthcoming exhibition Ahete ha yamaki rariprou [When we are close we all scream together]. Hakihiiwe is an indigenous artist from the headwaters of the Orinoco river deep in the Amazon forest. Living and working in Mahekoto-Teri (Platanal) Hakihiiwe’s drawings provide a testimony of Yanomami collective history, culture and knowledge. Hakihiiwe’s work is immersed in the intense Yanomami relationship with the jungle as it retrieves and preserves a part of the oral, graphic, cosmogonic and traditional memory binding the ancestral with the contemporary.
