Matheus Chiaratti Brazilian, b. 1988

Overview

Matheus Chiaratti combines narrative instances ranging from art history to literature, from historical characters to autofictions. Apart from ceramic works that join painting and sculpture, Chiaratti also works with photography, audio, embroidery and poetry, constructing imaginaries permeated by desire and eroticism in a transition between affects and narratives. The artist's gestures and the intervals between each of these elements weave unusual bodies that pose as riddles to be solved. It is in this relationship that the literary and seductive potential of his work resides.

Among his solo exhibitions are Pau lavrado, Quadra, São Paulo, Brazil (2022); Fortuna Balnearis, Edicola Radetzky, Milan, Italy (2022); Nights Vanitas, Artland, Milan, Italy (2022) and Umbigo do desejo, Quadra, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (2019). He has also taken part in the group shows The River that Covers Me, Cecilia Brunson Projects, London, UK (2025); O beijo no asfalto, Flexa, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (2024); Olhe bem as montanhas, Quadra, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (2024); Italian postcard, Galleria Il Bisonte, Florence Italy (2024); Mesmo estando separados, Ateliê397, São Paulo, Brazil (2023); Vai na fé, Museu de Arte Sacra, São Paulo, Brazil (2022) and Male nudes: Um salão de 1800 a 2021, Mendes Wood DM, São Paulo, Brazil (2021).
