Sheroanawe Hakihiiwe's works on paper feature in Looking Through a Circle in a Circle of Looks at Artium Museoa in Álava, Spain. The exhibition explores practices that reflect on the role of the moving image in constructing representations of Otherness. Alongside cinematography, it also features works made by analogue processes that question traditional image production technologies, including those shaped by decolonial thought and spiritualism.

Hakihiiwe creates work tied to his observation of the natural world and the daily practices of his community, the Yanomami of the Venezuelan Amazon. He keeps a notebook to record body and face paintings, as well as spiritual chants, traditional teachings about plants and animals, as well as the patterns of his peoples' material culture. These notes form the graphic basis of his drawings which he expands with the addition of colour and repetition, transfering them to sheets of handmade paper using natural materials like sugarcane, cotton, mulberry, and banana.
