Judith Lauand: Frieze Masters
Cecilia Brunson Projects is pleased to participate in the Spotlight section of Frieze Masters, curated by Valerie Cassel Oliver (booth S2), exhibiting a solo presentation by Judith Lauand (1922-2022), the pioneering Brazilian painter who worked alongside Luiz Sacilotto and Waldemar Cordeiro as the sole female member of Grupo Ruptura. The exhibited works from the 1950s-1970s reflect her important contributions to the Concrete movement, and her experimental deviations into Pop art. This comes at a moment of celebration and re-evaluation of this pivotal figure of geometric abstraction, following Lauand's major retrospective at the Museu de Arte de São Paulo Assis Chateaubriand (MASP) in Brazil in 2022-23.
