From the series ‘Mamãe Prometo ser Feliz’ (Mummy I Promise to be Happy), the artist worked on linens and bed sheets, in part a continuation of her ongoing research into the varied possibilities for material supports for her work. The linen was first donated to her by a friend from a marriage trousseau, and thus became charged with the expectations of women within a patriarchal society. As the artist began to work on the series, many more women donated linens to support her work.
