Alejandro Corujeira at the 33rd Bienal de São Paulo
Cecilia Brunson Projects is delighted to announce the participation of Alejandro Corujeira in the 33rd São Paulo Biennial taking place from September 7th until December 9th, 2018 at the Ciccillo Matarazzo Pavillion in São Paulo, located at the Ibirapuera Park.
Alejandro Corujeira (Buenos Aires, Argentina, 1961) is one of the central artists highlighted in one of the 11 individual exhibitions under the title of “Affective Affinities” curated by Gabriel Pérez-Barreiro. His work has a fluid and formal perception, which appears to want to capture the movement of nature.
In his own words:
'I consider drawing the seed, the germ of any artistic activity. For me, drawing can be even walking from one place to another. This path can manifest itself as a drawing course. It is an activity of contemplation that leads, implicitly, to a respiratory attitude, a meditation.'
'There are times when I find it difficult to speak, because I do not want to carry the viewer with a concept that precedes their encounter with the work. I always think that this meeting should take place from a more naked place of contemplation. A place where the eyes of those who contemplate are a little silent, silenced by concepts, so that an unprecedented experience can arise.'
